THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT -AKA- NIC CAGE is NIC CAGE in NIC CAGE: THE MOVIE *OR* The Completely bearable surprise that this was better than I thought it would be.
I largely liked this funnier than expected festival/celebration of the occasionally twisted majesty that is one Nic Cage, né Nicolas Coppola.
Owing much to TROPIC THUNDER, this film is about a down on his luck, fictionalized, Nic Cage accepting work from a rich admirer, and flying out for the man's birthday party at his lush island manor. Hijinx and shenanigans ensue.

The marketing for this movie does it no justice as it is a lot funnier than it seemed. We were there for a critic's screening and everyone seemed to have a good time watching.
The movie makes good use of its modest budget, providing more value than productions with far more dollar value. It's an easy watch that is well served by a cast (PEDRO PASCAL is especially fantastic!) that include TIFFANY HADDISH, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, SHARON HORGAN, IKE BARINHOLTZ, and LILY SHEEN. Everybody gives the goods, playing well off of Mr. Cage's unique approach to performance.
Very few issues, the ending is a little weak, but is actually set up within the story itself so... (Shrugs). Rough in places, though the staccato editing actually serves to accent Nic Cage's own patented delivery, so... (Shrugs)
Glad I saw this instead of MORBIUS - which I initially wanted to see as kind of a "so-bad-it's-good" deal, but backed away from. If I feel suddenly masochistic, I may give it a whack…
SEE IT: If you want a rather pleasant and humorous diversion, with extra NIC CAGE in it.
DON'T SEE IT: If you're not into THE CAGE, and absolutely cannot miss your monthly colon polishing session.
