THE SUICIDE SQUAD *OR* THE MOST EXPENSIVE TROMA MOVIE EVER -AKA- They paid 185 mil for THIS!?
I was really looking forward to this one, but am really glad that I streamed it on HBO Max at the early release time of 7pm MST.
James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD is certainly better than David Ayers 2016 piece of WTF-ery, but the bar is so low that really doesn't mean much.
What started out as genuine enthusiasm was slowly and painfully stripped away over the course of 132 LONG, arduous minutes of confoundingly crack-headed cinema.
If you've followed the career of Mr. Gunn, you'd know of his start in Lloyd Kaufman's low budget indie production company TROMA STUDIOS.
This film would have made more sense coming from them and with the usual budget.
THE GOOD: The cast owns the shit-fuckery of their characters, and are the only enjoyable thing about this. (Sometimes)
THE BAD: This movie was clearly produced by strung out turkey vultures. WTF!?
SEE IT: ...Don't see it.
DON'T SEE IT: Really, don't waste your time.
