OVERLORD or Castle Wolfenstein THE MOVIE
Most fun I've had watching a "Horror" move in a while. An enjoyable but simple plot, great effects and a snappy pace. The opening sequence was superbly orchestrated and the remainder of the movie is no slouch.
YES, there are historical inaccuracies. The 101st airborne (and the rest of the Army) didn't desegregate until after Truman signed an executive order on July 26th, 1948 and the only black airborne unit, the 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion (The triple Nickles) was never deployed overseas.
But this isn't Saving Private Ryan or Thin Red Line, this is a nutty video game of a movie and I like it.
"With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that's crucial to the invasion's success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen."
Watch it, def worth your time.
